The
laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs) are documents which
describe the steps necessary to conduct a measurement and the critical
parameters to be evaluated during the analysis. SOPs set out
detailed steps that implement the general guidance of the quality
control manual. SOPs are written such that a chemist or
laboratory technician with experience in the particular analytical
technique can follow the procedure and obtain the same result as
another similarly trained chemist. The SOPs are specific to the
Air Resources Board laboratories because they describe the actual
instrumentation and equipment used. Mention of specific equipment
and products do not constitute endorsement or recommendation for use by
the Air Resources Board.
SOPs, both currently used and archived, have been written for each method used by the Air Resources Board to generate data for record. The
listed SOPs are used by the Air Resources Board laboratories to analyze ambient air samples. The following
table provides a summary of each archived SOP along with the entire document.

Laboratory and Inorganics Laboratory SOPs, respectively.
