Notice of Public Workshop on
California Regional PM10/PM2.5 Air Quality Study
Field Program Plan

On behalf of the California Regional PM10/PM2.5 Air Quality Study (CRPAQS), the Air Resources Board invites you to a public workshop on the study's field program plan. CRPAQS is a comprehensive, multi-year program to provide an improved understanding of the nature and causes of elevated PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations in California's Central Valley and to develop tools for use by decision-makers in formulating and evaluating equitable and effective control strategies. As part of CRPAQS, extensive field monitoring programs are planned for 1999 through 2001. The field monitoring will include an annual campaign planned from December 1, 1999 through January 31, 2001, a fall episodic campaign during a one month period between September and November 2000, and a winter episodic campaign between November 15, 2000 and January 31, 2001.

The purpose of the workshop is to provide an overview of the field program and to solicit feedback from the contracting/research community. The general outline and structure of requests for proposals (RFPs), which will be released later in the year, will also be presented. The workshop will be held at the Air Resources Board at the following date and location:

November 5, 1998
10:00 a.m.
Board Hearing Room
2020 L Street
Sacramento, California 95814

Copies of the draft field program plan are available on the CRPAQS web site. The field program plan can be downloaded from the Publications area as a zip file (fldplan.zip) or as separate Adobe Acrobat files bundled in chapter groupings. The CRPAQS web site is located at:

http://sparc2.baaqmd.gov/centralca/

All workshop attendees will be placed on the mailing list for future field program RFPs. If you are unable to attend the workshop, but would like to be placed on the RFP mailing list, please send an email with your name and address to Karen Magliano at kmaglian@arb.ca.gov.

I look forward to seeing you at the workshop. Should you have any questions, please contact me at (916) 324-4069, or Karen Magliano of my staff at (916) 322-7137.

Sincerely,
