The California Almanac of Emissions and Air Quality

BACKGROUND

Each year, the Air Resources Board publishes The California Almanac of Emissions and Air Quality. The Almanac contains 20-year trend summaries of air quality and emissions data for five criteria pollutants: ozone, PM₁₀, CO, NO₂, and SO₂. Data are summarized for the State as a whole and for the five most populated air basins (South Coast, San Francisco Bay Area, San Joaquin Valley, San Diego, and Sacramento Valley). In addition to information on criteria pollutants, the Almanac provides information on air quality and emissions for the following ten toxic air contaminants: acetaldehyde, benzene, 1,3-butadiene, carbon tetrachloride, hexavalent chromium, para-dichlorobenzene, formaldehyde, methylene chloride, perchloroethylene, and diesel particulate matter. Similar to the criteria pollutant data, the toxic air contaminant data are also summarized for the State and for each of the five most populated air basins.

The current edition, The California Almanac of Emissions and Air Quality - 2009 Edition, spans the years 1988 through 2007, the 2008 edition spans the years 1987 through 2006, the 2007 edition spans the years 1986 through 2005, the 2006 edition spans the years 1985 through 2004, the 2005 edition spans the years 1984 through 2003, the 2004 edition spans the years 1983 through 2002, the 2003 edition spans the years 1982 through 2001, the 2002 edition spans the years 1981 through 2000, the 2001 edition spans the years 1980 through 1999, and the 1999 edition spans the years 1980 through 1998.
