Database: California Air Quality Data - Selected Data Available for Download

The California Air Resources Board has released a new DVD-ROM in May 2011 entitled "2011 Air Quality Data DVD" with 30 years of air quality data (1980-2009). For a description of the DVD, go to "California Air Quality Data Available on DVD-ROM". We are providing files in various formats for hourly, daily, and annual data from 1980 to 2009 listed in the file documentation: file11dvd.pdf (pdf - 81k). If you would like to download these ASCII, Dbf, Comma-delimited, ACCESS 2003, or EXCEL files, proceed to the table below. The daily monitor-based PM10 and PM2.5 data are available in both comma-delimited and EXCEL format, and the hourly monitor-based PM10 and PM2.5 data are available in comma-delimited format except for PM10 local conditions (BAM10) which is also available in EXCEL format. Most of the hourly PM10 and PM2.5 files had more records in a year than EXCEL could display, so these EXCEL files were not provided. The product names listed on this page may be registered trademarks.
New: The 1982-2009 NO2 Federal 1-hour Design Values with validity are available for all sites and all years in the downloadable file in the table below.
Errata: There are three executable files for hourly methane (CH4) on the 2011 Air Quality Data DVD which are mislabeled in \Fix_Form\Hourly\, although the data files after extraction are correct. The file "ch419801984.exe" was labeled "ch41980194.exe", "ch419901994.exe" was labeled "ch19901994.exe", and "ch419951999.exe" was labeled "ch19951999.exe." The data files are labeled correctly within the zipped executable files.
Errata posted July 18, 2011: The 2008 NO2 hourly data at Grass Valley-Litton Building (site 3126) had five hours that were less than 0.0005 ppm and slightly negative on the 2011 Air Quality Data DVD. These five hours of 2008 NO2 data were set to 0.000ppm (3/14/2008 start hour 8, 3/14/2008 start hour 9, 4/3/2008 start hour 8, 4/8/2008 start hour 14, and 4/11/2008 start hour 9). The NO2 hourly data on this web site match the 2011 Air Quality Data DVD.
After downloading each data file, double-click on the zipped executable file. The window for the WinZip Self-Extractor will appear: click on the "Browse" button to select the location for storing the file on your hard drive, then click on the "Unzip" button.
