Ken Yeager

Supervisor Ken Yeager was elected to the Santa Clara County Board of
Supervisors in June of 2006. He focuses much of his time on
policies relating to
public health, environmental stewardship, and transportation.
Supervisor Yeager is a member of the Caltrain Joint Powers Board
and the Valley Transportation Authority Board. He also serves as
the County’s representative to the Bay Area Air Quality Management
District, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, and the
Association of Bay Area Governments.
Previously, Supervisor Yeager served six years as a councilmember
for the City of San Jose and served two terms as a Trustee of the San
Jose Evergreen Community College District where he was the County’s
first openly gay elected official.
Ken earned a B.A. in political science from San Jose State University
(SJSU) and an M.A. in sociology and a Ph.D. in education from Stanford
University.
Prior to his public service career, he taught full time in the
Political Science Department at SJSU for 12 years. An avid runner,
Supervisor Yeager has also participated in over 30 marathons and 10
triathlons.
