Health Update: Environmental Justice, Air Pollution, and Health |
Staff will present a summary of recent studies examining the association between socioeconomic status and exposure to air toxics. The findings suggest that ethnicity and income may influence exposure to air toxics which may, in turn, result in adverse health effects. California-specific data from an ARB-funded study will also be presented, showing how socioeconomic factors may impact exposure to air pollution. | |

Continuation of Public Hearing to Consider Adoption of Proposed Regulations to Reduce Emissions from Diesel Engines on Commercial Harbor Craft Operated Within California Waters and 24 Nautical Miles of the California Baseline |
The Board heard the staff presentation and the public testimony on this item at an October 26, 2007 hearing. At the conclusion, the Board asked staff to report back at the November 15, 2007 meeting with its further analysis of several issues raised regarding the proposal. After considering this analysis, the Board plans to take appropriate action. | |

ARB staff will present its evaluation of additional local control measures for accelerating 8-hour ozone attainment in the San Joaquin Valley. The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, pending its evaluation, could add all or portions of these recommended control measures to its 8-hour ozone SIP. | |

Public Hearing to Consider Approval of Modified Transportation Conformity Budgets Contained in the 2007 Air Quality Management Plan for Attaining the Federal 8-Hour Ozone and PM2.5 Standards in the South Coast Air Basin and the Coachella Valley |
Augmentation of the South Coast 2007 AQMP to include additional control measures by the Board at its September 27, 2007 meeting require modification of the transportation conformity budgets for the South Coast Air Basin and for the Coachella Valley. The staff will present modified budgets to the Board for consideration in conformance with federal Clean Air Act requirements. | |

Staff will present for the Board's consideration the State Alternative Fuels Plan Report required by Assembly Bill 1007 (Chapter 371, Statutes of 2005). Assembly Bill 1007 requires the California Energy Commission and the Air Resources Board to develop a plan to increase the use of alternative fuels. | |
