02-9-2 | Public Hearing to Adopt the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Limit School Bus Idling and Idling at Schools Staff is proposing adoption of an airborne toxic control measure that would require that a driver of a school transportation bus or other heavy duty vehicle manually turn off the bus or vehicle engine upon arriving at a school and restart it no more that 30 seconds before departure. At other locations, a school transportation bus or vehicle would be prohibited from idling more than five minutes. A five minute idling limit would be allowed for transit buses or other heavy-duty vehicles within 100 feet of a school, but no other restrictions beyond 100 feet of a school. Certain exemptions and recording keeping requirements would apply. Regulatory Documents Notice |
