The Air Resources Board (ARB) is in the process of conducting a survey of consumer and commercial products that were sold with intention for use in California during Calendar Year 2001. The purpose of the survey is to gather current information on volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from selected product categories. The data will be used to update our consumer products emissions inventory and will assist us as we evaluate the feasibility of further reducing consumer product emissions.

The general categories covered by the survey are listed in the cover letter below. See page 78 of the survey packet for complete survey titles and full descriptions of the categories. The completed survey must be submitted to ARB by January 31, 2003.

Electronic Submittal

Responsible Parties: As an alternative to completing hardcopy survey forms, data may be completed electronically and then copied to disc for submittal to ARB. To simplify and streamline the data gathering process, we encourage the use of this interactive version of the survey. If you have an operating system of Windows 98 or newer, you may request a CD-ROM with the electronic version of the 2001 Consumer & Commercial Products Survey by sending your name and mailing address via email to Amy Livingston at: alivings@arb.ca.gov

Formulators: If you will be completing ingredient information only, on behalf of another company that is a responsible party, we do not encourage use of the interactive version of the database described above because it was designed for responsible party use. Formulators should submit ingredient information by hardcopy. For information about an alternative electronic submittal option designed for formulators, contact Amy Livingston via email at: alivings@arb.ca.gov
