The 2010 Survey Update

To Manufacturers and Formulators of Aerosol Adhesive and Aersol Coating Consumer Products:

The California Air Resources Board's (ARB) is conducting an expedited 2010 Consumer & Commercial Products Survey Update for Aerosol Coating and Adhesive Products (Survey Update).  In this Survey Update, ARB staff will be gathering data about aerosol coating and adhesive products that were sold or supplied for use in California during calendar year 2010, or the most recent consecutive twelve-month period for which data are available.  The information that we are requesting will update the data we received from the 2003 and 2006 Consumer and Commercial Products Surveys.  The 2010 Survey Update represents part of our ongoing effort to evaluate the feasibility of further reducing volatile organic compound (VOC), reactive organic compound (ROC), toxic air contaminant (TAC), and/or greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from consumer products, and update our emissions inventory.  Your assistance in our gathering the survey information is greatly appreciated.  It will help California meet its federally mandated commitments for VOC reductions under the Clean Air Act.

Please note that completion of the Survey Update is mandatory under California State Law.  We would like to make this process as streamlined and efficient as possible.  Therefore we will be by sending you the aerosol coating and/or adhesive product data that you submitted for our 2003 or 2006 Consumer and Commercial Products Survey, if applicable, for you to update to 2010 data.  If formulation data were provided by a formulator, we will assume these data to be confidential and will submit the formulation data to the appropriate formulator instead of the manufacturer for updating.  If you have a different formulator in 2010 than you did in the last survey you submitted, please inform us of that change as soon as possible so that the new formulator can be sent the proper forms.    We will be contacting you by telephone or email to identify the most efficient and least labor-intensive method of updating the data.  We request that the updated survey data be submitted or postmarked no later than [date].

We appreciate the effort, resources, and commitment industry will put forth to complete the 2010 Survey Update.   If you have questions concerning completion of the Survey Update, or know of more companies that should receive this information, please contact Ms. Lori Gilbert, Measures Development Section, at (916) 322-2362.
