DATA SUMMARY TABLES
Provided for your
information is the final summary of the results of our 1997 Consumer
and Commercial Products Survey. This table summarizes the sales and
ingredients for 100 product categories included in the Survey. It is
intended that this table supercede the preliminary version released on
March 4, 1999. Many additional products were added subsequent to the
release of the preliminary table, and some corrections and deletions
were performed, so the results listed in the March 4, 1999, table are
no longer valid. The VOC emissions, along with emission estimates for
low vapor pressure hydrocarbon solvents, will be incorporated into the
statewide emissions inventory.
The summary table includes the following information in tons per day by
category: 1) the reported product sales; 2) the adjusted product sales
to reflect complete market coverage; and 3) the corresponding adjusted
emission values for total Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC),
parachlorobenzotrifluoride (PCBTF), methylene chloride (MeCl),
1,1,1-trichloroethane (TCA), volatile methyl siloxanes (VMS), acetone,
carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrofluorocarbon 152a (HFC-152a), water (H2O),
and perchloroehylene (PERC). In the previous version of this table, a
column for Low Vapor Pressure VOC's (LVP-VOC's) was included. This
column was deleted because it included many compounds such as
surfactants and resins that are non-volatile and therefore are not
emitted. The water column was also deleted.
The adjustment factors are not listed by category, but can be
calculated by dividing the adjusted sales by the reported sales. In all
but nine categories, we assumed a 90 percent market coverage. For the
remaining nine categories, the adjusted sales are shown in bold
print. The rationale for further adjusting the reported sales in these
categories can be provided upon request.
If you have any questions regarding the summary table or the market
coverage adjustments, or would like a copy of the previous version of
the table, please contact Dave Mallory, Manager, Measures Development
Section, at (916) 445-8316 (dmallory@arb.ca.gov).
