The Air Resources Board has verified the Engine Control Systems Limited (doing business as CDTi; hereafter referred to as CDTi) Purifilter EGR system for select 2002 through 2010 model year heavy-duty on-road diesel engines used in on-road applications. The Purifilter EGR system reduces emissions of diesel particulate matter by at least 85 percent and is designated as a Level 3 Plus system. The primary components of the Purifilter EGR include a catalyzed silicon carbide diesel particulate filter for passive regeneration, and a backpressure monitoring and notification system. The Purifilter EGR system is compatible with on-road vehicles using diesel fuel that contains up to 20 percent biodiesel. Specific engine families and conditions for which the Purifilter EGR system has been approved may be found in the Executive Order below.
