METHOD SUMMARY

These categories include the TOG emissions for 1987 associated with natural gas processing. Natural gas obtained from gas wells contains impurities such as water, carbon dioxide, and sulfur compounds. The natural gas is processed to remove these impurities. The sources of fugitive emissions during natural gas processing are leaks in compressor seals, pump seals, valves, and fittings.

ACTIVITY DATA SOURCE: The amounts of natural gas produced in each county in California were obtained from a report by the California Division of Oil and Gas, "73rd Annual Report of the State Oil and Gas Supervisor, 1987."

EMISSION FACTOR SOURCE: The emission factor for natural gas processing was from a report by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, "Revision of Evaporative Hydrocarbon Emission Factors" (August 1976).

TEMPORAL DATA:

The annual, weekly, and daily activities are uniform throughout the year, seven days a week, and twenty-four hours a day.

Dollar output for oil and gas extraction (SIC 13). (SJVUAPCD parameter is based on barrels of oil.)
