CLARIFICATION OF COMPLIANCE WITH SERPENTINE ROCK RULE
Advisory number 161, Serpentine Rock, sent to you on June 5, 1998 was not correct for the following air quality management districts: North Coast, Lake, and Mendocino. The advisory indicated that it was unlawful to sell, offer for sale, supply or use serpentine material for surfacing unless the material has been tested and found to contain less than or equal to five percent (5%) asbestos. In the above named districts, it is unlawful to sell, offer for sale, supply or use serpentine material for surfacing unless material has been tested and found to contain less than or equal to one percent (1%) asbestos. Obligations also exist for record keeping of sales, notice to buyers, and testing.
Please be advised of this correction and comply accordingly. If you have any questions concerning this rule please contact your local air quality management district.
