On June 19, 2012, a case was settled with Giftcraft Inc. for three of its air freshener products, Habitat Collection Breeze Home Fragrance Spray, Habitat Collection White Iris Home Fragrance Spray, and Marie Osmond Enchanted Blossom Scented Reed Diffuser. The first two fragrance spray products contained VOC concentrations exceeding the 18 percent by weight VOC limits for “Air Freshener: liquid/pump spray” category specified in title17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509 (a). These two products were sold between 2006 and 2009 and resulted in 0.087 tons of excess VOC emissions attributable to the violation. In addition, all three products failed to display a manufactured date or a date-code on the product container as required in title 17, CCR, section 94512(b). The company paid $4,000 to settle the case.
