RELIANT TRAVEL, LLC. SETTLES FOR $9,000


The Reliant Travel, LLC, in January 2009, agreed to pay a total of $9,000 in penalties to the California Air Pollution Control Fund for violating air quality regulations; $6,750 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, $1,125 to the Peralta Community College District, and $1,125 to the California Pollution Control Financing Authority.  An investigation by ARB showed that Reliant Travel, LLC, failed to properly self-inspect their diesel fleet in accordance with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) to insure their buses met state smoke emission standards.  To settle this case, Reliant Travel, LLC, Oakland agreed to pay the $9,000 penalty over a six-month period and to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program and other ARB regulations.
