VI-JON CONSUMER PRODUCTS CASE SETTLES FOR $80,000
|During a routine inspection on November 13, 1997, Compliance Division (CD) staff obtained samples of Albertson’s Nail polish Remover, which is manufactured by Vi–Jon Laboratories. These products were tested and found to have volatile organic compound (VOC) contents in violation of the state standard. After a thorough investigation, staff referred this case to the Office of Legal Affairs (OAL) for settlement and / or litigation. OAL settled this case for $80,000, of which $40,000 was made payable to the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District as a remedial donation for District use in planning and executing a Portable Fuel Container exchange and recycling event to occur in the spring of 2001.|
