Thanks for developing a plan to reduce global warming pollution
while at the same time helping to create jobs and making California
a healthier and more prosperous place to live. To speed up the
transition from fossil to clean energy sources I strongly recommend
that the program to cap greenhouse emissions be strengthened
substantially more. It is critically required that many more of the
state’s largest polluters pay for their global warming emissions.
The real cost of green house gases to our economy, human health and
envirornment for current and future generations cannot be
underestimated.
By mandating all polluters to pay for the emissions they generate,
by purchasing permits in an auction, we can then re-invest the
auction funds into efforts that will help us transition to a much
needed cleaner economy resulting in improved human health and
environment and helping lower energy costs for Californians—such as
making homes and businesses more energy efficient, increasing
public transit options, and developing wind and solar projects in
California, thus creating much needed jobs to quickly transition to
an economy driven by non polluting energy sources.
Under current greenhouse enmission trends we simply cannot afford
to continue risking the fate of future generations. The real price
of green-house gases must be paid now while it is still possible to
prevent substantial more economic, health and environmental damages
due to greenhouse gas emissions. Please ensure that strong
compliance and enforcement mechanisms are in place as soon as
possible.
