Subject | Response to Public Mtg Proposal |
Comment | For Private schools who are ineligible to receive any of the funds to help mitigate the costs of providing and installing the proper equipment to meet the lower emissions standards, the cost becomes prohibitive. We have been given quotes of anywhere from 15 to 20 thousand dollars per bus which is approximately 10% to 14% of our total transportation budget including salaries and benefits and if salaries are taken out approximately 45% of the budget. Therefore: 1.) We are very much in favor of the ARB staff proposal adjusting the retrofit deadline to allow expenditure through June 30, 2012. 2.) We would would like the ARB to consider allowing Private schools to be recipients of grant funding for the incremental cost of cleaner-than-required engines, equipment, and emission reduction technologies. Having an extension will give us time to try and find some alternative sources of money to handle repair costs or to schedule out repairs in a manner that could be handled. Hopefully an extension would allow for consideration of grant money to private schools helping to mitigate any related costs. |
