Subject | air and noise pollution in California State Parks |
Comment | According to Todd Y. Thames, Superintendent of Support Services for The Dept. of Parks and Recreation in a letter mailed to me dated 12/5/07 he states, According to the California Air Resources Board (CARB),portable generators meet California emissions and noise standards. Did CARB test all motor homes (RV's) and all manufactures of portable generators for noise and air pollution? In Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations, Section 4320(c), it states generators can be used for 10 hours straight per day, from 8pm to 10am. These are gas powered and they produce noise. The State Parks are saying CARB does not see this as a problem. 400 camp sites 200 generators running for 10 hours a day, we might as well camp on the side of a major freeway. I think CARB should re-think what CARB has reported to The Dept. of Parks and Recreation.CARB needs to test these RV's and portable generators for noise and air pollutions. |
