Dear Members of the California Air Resources Board:

On May 24, 2007 I urge you to vote FOR the proposed new rule to
reduce air pollution from construction equipment. As you already
know, this equipment is the second largest source of diesel
pollution in California. Two of the biggest pollution hazards for
public health in California are soot and nitrogen oxides, big
components in diesel exhaust.

In the newspapers this week Los Angeles had the dubious honor of
being the most polluted city in our entire nation. We need to
bring our State's polluted areas into compliance with federal air
quality standards and Californians deserve better air for their
health.

Please support stronger air standards for California's
construction equipment and thereby help clean up our air.

Respectfully submitted,

Freda Hofland
Los Altos Hills, CA
