As the grandson of an Epidemiologist and activist who fought for
Clean Air standards, I urge you to strengthen the restrictions on
emissions from In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicles. These emissions,
which I understand can account for up to 20% of the soot we
breathe here in CA, and 16% smog (NOx), both of which have been
proven to contribute to health problems and cost us dearly in the
form of premature deaths, long term health problems, and increased
costs to health care and insurance.

As I understand it this new rule will: prevent 4000 premature
deaths, result in reduced health care bills and hospital visits to
the tune of $18-26 BILLION dollars, and, by 2020, prevent 48 tons
per DAY of NOx and 5 tons per day of particulate matter from
entering our air.

Please please please strengthen the standards on pollution
restrictions of In-Use Off-Road Vehicles (aka construction
equipment).
