Comment | This is the way to reach the goal, give consumers the choice to buy Zero-Emission Vehicles! The only way that auto manufacturers will offer to the general public what we want and the environment needs is to reinstate the ZEV mandate from a decade ago. The state government is supposed to represent the people and not let big industry change policies so the they can further their profits at the expense of damaging the environment. The oil industry has quite an influence on what comes out of Detroit but you have the power to give our future generations a breath of fresh, (unpolluted) air. Don't let the automotive industry dictate what CARB will do. Do the right thing for us all, CARB isn't about industry making money but instead it was put in place to protect the people of Southern California and possibly the rest of the country as well. Please don't let the industry undermine all the good that CARB has done. I know we all need to do our part to make this world a better place for future generations and for ourselves. We must move ahead and force the oil industry from the lordship it has over how we get around in this state. You have the power to get this started, [again]! Unfortunately, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) may reduce the number of ZEVs required of automakers by 90%, settling for only 2,500 from 2012-2014. Don't let this happen! We can achieve this goal but we must all make sacrifices, so I ask you to do your part is representing the people of California. Please: 1. Require the full 25,000 ZEVs that automakers had promised for 2012-2014, and 2. Create a separate requirement for plug-in hybrids that lets them replace the dirtiest vehicles in CARB's regulations, and don't let them replace the requirement for battery electric vehicles, but rather the dirty gas guzzlers. A choice for [us] consumers means cleaner air for everyone. Please give us the power to make a difference! Sincerely, Dennis Balloy |
