Comment | As the owners of two highway-grade electric vehicles, a GM S-10 EV and a Solectria Force, my wife and I are very familiar with the complete viability of this form of transportation. Not only is it the cleanest way to drive, we are also able to get all the energy we need to run these cars from the solar electric system on our roof. When we are driving, we often wonder why these vehicles are not availble for everyone. Clean air, national security, energy security, are just some of the reasons why electric vehicles MUST proliferate. The CARB must not shirk its responsibility as gate keeper for this essential technology. I ask that: (1) you require the full 25,000 ZEVs between 2012 and 2014 that the automakers lobbied for and agreed to in 2003; (2) that you implement a level playing field between all type sof ZEVs to get clean cars on the roads of Califorania; and (3) provide incentives for plug-in hybrids by taking from the dirtiest cars, not the cleanest ones. Thank you for your consideration of this request. |
