arbcombo -- Slides for February 22 Workshop: Strategy to Increase Deployment of Zero-Emission Airport Vehicles at California Airports
Posted: 21 Feb 2017 14:08:11
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has posted the presentation and agenda for the public workshop on the strategy to increase deployment of zero-emission airport vehicles that transport passengers to and from California airports. The presentation, agenda, as well as notice, can be accessed at: https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/asb/asbmtgs.htm. This workshop will be held at the following time and location: Date: Wednesday, February 22, 2017 Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Place: Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, Sierra Hearing Room 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California 95814 The workshop will also be available via webcast for stakeholders unable to attend in person and can be accessed at the following link on the day of the workshop: https://video.calepa.ca.gov/. Directions to Cal/EPA headquarters and public transit can be found at: http://www.calepa.ca.gov/EPAbldg/location.htm. If you have questions regarding the workshop, please contact Katherine Garrison at (916) 322-1522 or Katherine.Garrison@arb.ca.gov. Background: Promoting the development and use of zero-emission airport transportation will help ARB achieve the emission reduction strategies outlined in the Mobile Source Strategy, Draft State Implementation Plan and the Sustainable Freight Action Plan. Vehicles such as airport shuttle buses that operate on fixed routes, have stop-and-go operations, maintain low average speeds, and are centrally maintained and fueled are ideal candidates for targeting zero-emission electric technologies. Additionally, experience gained from demonstrating the viability of zero-emission operation in these fleets will benefit other heavy-duty on-road markets and enable cleaner transportation in other fields. The overall goals of this effort will: • Complement existing programs to achieve NOx and GHG emission reductions through the use of zero-emission technology. • Increase the penetration of the first wave of zero-emission heavy-duty technology into transportation applications at airports, such as buses that transport passengers to and from car parking lots and airport terminals as well as those that transport passengers to airport car rental facilities.
