CAP AND TRADE

A cap-and-trade system for vehicle emissions? Economists and
regulatory experts are proposing a cap-and-trade system for
vehicle greenhouse gas emissions to replace existing fuel economy
standards. President Trump has vowed to review the emissions and
mileage requirements to boost automotive jobs. U.S. EPA and the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have until April
2018 to decide whether to lower the targets.

CLEAN POWER PLAN

Trump to unravel Obama's anti-global warming projects. President
Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order Tuesday aimed
at moving forward on his campaign pledge to unravel former
President Barack Obama's plan to curb global warming.
The order seeks to suspend, rescind or flag for review more than
a half-dozen measures in an effort to boost domestic energy
production in the form of fossil fuels.

CLIMATE CHANGE

What does California need to meet its climate-change goals? For
starters, denser housing and less driving, report says.
California will need billions of dollars in new funding for
housing and transportation improvements, and to make
extraordinary changes to state and local government policies, in
order to meet its new 2030 climate change goals…

What Trump’s new climate actions mean: A FAQ. On Tuesday, a week
after the end of the sixth-warmest winter in the continental
United States in recorded history, President Trump will announce
a series of actions meant to unwind or dramatically halt Barack
Obama’s efforts to fight climate change. What does this mean?
What will the effects be? Can Trump keep his promises on energy
job creation? Allow us to answer those questions in the form of a
FAQ.

How climate change may be driving extreme weather. Scientists say
climate change could be altering the jet stream in a way that
causes extreme heat waves, droughts, and flooding. Whether a
specific extreme weather event can be linked to climate change
rarely gets a straightforward answer from climate scientists or
meteorologists. It's complicated, they'll say, but that doesn't
mean there isn't a relationship.

Maryland lawmakers vote to ban drilling known as fracking.
Maryland lawmakers voted Monday to ban hydraulic fracturing for
oil and natural gas, a process better known as fracking. The
Senate voted 35-10 for a measure that already has been approved
by the House. That sends the bill to Republican Gov. Larry Hogan,
who supports the ban.
Fracking isn't being done in Maryland now, but a moratorium on
issuing permits ends in October.

around 25 percent higher than their consumption labels suggested…

Letter: Climate change aggravates our air pollution. Utah Climate

pollution by causing stronger inversions, resulting in higher
concentrations of particulate air pollution. After too many red

fact.

The Giant Trump Climate Order Is Here. What it does, what comes
next. In the final days of the Obama administration, scholars and
journalists took stock of all that he had done to combat the
dangerous rise of climate change. Barack Obama, they pronounced,

and guidelines across the government.

The Cost of Curbing Climate Change. On average, every ton of
carbon dioxide emitted into the atmosphere imposes damages equal
