arbcombo -- Public Workshop to Discuss Advanced Clean Local Trucks Regulation
Posted: 30 Mar 2017 16:23:38
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) invites you to participate in a public workshop to discuss potential strategies for accelerating deployment of zero emission truck technologies. The workshop will include discussions on how best to advance the market for advanced clean truck technologies primarily in local truck and last mile delivery applications. The discussion will include an overview of a potential regulatory concept that would apply to chassis manufacturers, a detailed discussion with the investor-owned utilities about the SB 350 proposals to remove barriers for transportation electrification, a draft fleet survey questionnaire, and a continued discussion on costs. This public workshop is open to the public and in-person participation is strongly encouraged. The workshop will be held at the following time and place: Date: Tuesday, April 25, 2017 Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Place: Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, Coastal Hearing Room 1001 I Street, Sacramento, California 95814 Directions: https://goo.gl/maps/x1iswHHwiJT2 The workshop notice is available at https://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/mailouts/mouts_17.htm The workshop will also be available via webcast for stakeholders who are unable to attend in person and can be accessed on the day of the workshop at https://video.calepa.ca.gov/ Staff’s presentation, meeting agenda, and other meeting materials will be posted in advance of the workshop on CARB’s Advanced Clean Truck website at www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/actruck/actruck.htm The workshop will be structured to discuss the transportation electrification topics in the morning and the regulatory concept discussion beginning at 1:00 pm. Pacific Gas and Electric Company, San Diego Gas & Electric Company, and Southern California Edison Company submitted applications to the CPUC in January, proposing programs aimed at accelerating transportation electrification as directed under SB 350. Some of their proposals target medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The CPUC plans to give an overview of those specific programs and seeks feedback on the proposals from customers in those sectors. Information about the SB 350 transportation electrification applications can be found at www.cpuc.ca.gov/sb350te Background: These strategies support CARB’s efforts to protect public health for the millions of Californians that still breathe unhealthy air, reduce exposure to air toxics in disadvantaged communities, and meet California’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets as part of the global action needed to slow global warming and achieve climate stabilization.
