maritime -- OGV Main Engine, Auxiliary Boiler and Auxiliary Engine Workshop

A workshop for Ocean-Going Vessel (OGV) Main Engines/Auxiliary Boilers and Auxiliary Engines has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2008. The workshop will be held in the Byron Sher Auditorium from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Sacramento. The purpose of the workshop is to discuss draft regulatory concepts to reduce emissions of diesel and other forms of particulate matter, oxides of nitrogen, and oxides of sulfur emissions from OGV main engines/auxiliary boilers and auxiliary boilers by limiting the sulfur content of the fuel used in such engines. Staff will also present at this workshop a new regulation that is essentially identical to the existing regulation for auxiliary engines on OGVs (13 CCR 2299.1 and 17 CCR 93118), except the new regulation will more explicitly require the use of low sulfur diesel fuel.
