forestry -- Forest stakeholder workshop on forest protocol status

Posted: 03 Jul 2008 14:53:55
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) staff invite you to
participate in a workshop to discuss progress toward updating
the California Climate Action Registry (CCAR) forest protocols.

The Air Resources Board adopted the CCAR forest protocols in
October 2007 as non-regulatory quantification methods for
purposes of voluntary greenhouse gas accounting. The Board also
directed ARB staff to initiate a process to update the protocols
in order to encourage broader forest sector involvement and
reduce potential barriers to participation. That process began
in November 2007 with the organization of a Forest Protocol
Workgroup by CCAR and a target of updating the protocols by
December 2008. The Forest Protocol Workgroup has made
significant progress toward meeting its goals.

The workshop to discuss progress will be held at the following
time and location:

Date: Friday, July 18, 2008
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:30 PM (Pacific Time)
Location: Coastal Hearing Room, 2nd floor
Address:
Cal/EPA Headquarters
1001 “I” Street (2nd floor)
Sacramento, California 95814

A workshop agenda and the presentation will be posted prior to
the workshop meeting at ARB’s Climate Change and Forests website
at:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/forestry/forestry.htm, and more
information on attending the workshop can be found at the
website as well.

For those unable to attend the workshop in person, a live
internet webcast with audio and video will be available
beginning at 9:00 a.m. on July 18, 2008 at:
http://www.calepa.ca.gov/broadcast. During the workshop the
webcast audience will have the opportunity to submit questions
and comments by email. If you have a slow internet connection,
we recommend you download the presentation prior to the workshop
and follow the proceedings with the audio-only option.

We welcome and encourage your participation at this workshop. If
you have questions regarding the workshop, please contact Jeanne
Panek, at (916) 322-1029, or jpanek@arb.ca.gov.
