15-Day Draft of California Auto Glass Regulations Released; Now
Available for Public Comment. The California Air Resources Board
(CARB) has released the 15-day draft of the auto glass
regulations the board voted to adopt in June. The draft, which
specifies the type of glass to be used in vehicles sold in the
state for model-year 2012 and later, is now open for public

suggests that the world may face a long-term sea-level rise of 20

NASA Calculates a Carbon Budget for California. Researchers
report that in 2004, the state’s natural ecosystems absorbed as
much carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as fossil fuel carbons
emitted into the atmosphere. They also discovered that during
periods of above normal rainfall, ecosystems trapped significant
amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in forests and

States Race To Take Lead In Alternative Fuel Development. With
renewable energy development expected to be a major economic
driver for decades to come, state governments nationwide are
positioning themselves to become players in that emerging sector.
Thirty-six states now require that a certain percentage of
