Low Carbon Fuel Policy report release by University of
California

SACRAMENTO -The University of California released a blueprint
today for the Air Resources Board to consider in implementing
the low carbon fuel standard as part of its efforts to reduce
greenhouse gas emissions 25 percent by 2020. The report, which
is the second in a series, examines many of the policy issues
involved in designing a low carbon fuel standard. Go to
http://www.energy.ca.gov/low_carbon_fuel_standard/ to view the
report and UC press release.

"The study reinforces our view that a low carbon fuel standard
will play a major role in reducing California's greenhouse gas
emissions 25 percent by 2020," said ARB Chairman Mary Nichols.
"The report's authors at UC's Berkeley and Davis have provided
us with critical support as we move ahead on this early action
measure."

The Air Resources Board is a department of the California
Environmental Protection Agency. ARB's mission is to promote and
protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through
effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and
considering effects on the economy. The ARB oversees all air
pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain
health based air quality standards.
