sf6elec -- Regulation for Reducing Sulfur Hexafluoride Emissions from Gas Insulated Switchgear mandatory annual reporting
Posted: 07 Mar 2012 07:42:19
The first annual report for reporting sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) emissions from gas insulated switchgear GIS is required to be submitted to the Air Resources Board (ARB) by June 1, 2012. ARB is currently beta testing the mandatory reporting tool which is to be used for complying with the SF6 from GIS reporting requirements. Training on how to use the reporting tool will be provided on Thursday, April 19. Detailed information on how to participate in the training will be provided in a subsequent e-mail notice. General information on the mandatory reporting tool can be found at the following website: http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/reporting/ghg-rep/tool/ghg-tool.htm. Further information on the SF6 regulation is available on the SF6 website at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/cc/sf6elec/sf6elec.htm. If you have any questions regarding this notice or the SF6 regulation, please contact David Mehl, Energy Section Manager, at (916) 323-1491 or dmehl@arb.ca.gov; or Tom Pomales, Air Pollution Specialist, at (916) 324-0343 or tpomales@arb.ca.gov. Background: On June 21, 2007, as part of the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB-32) the ARB approved the reduction of SF6 emissions from electricity transmission and distribution equipment as an early action measure. ARB staff, in collaboration with interested stakeholders, developed a control measure to address these emissions.
