sf6nonelec -- New SF6 use restrictions effective January 1, 2013

Posted: 03 Dec 2012 14:40:15
This is a friendly reminder that a new milestone date for
additional restrictions on the use of sulfur hexafluoride (SF6)
in California is fast approaching. In addition to the
restrictions that have previously gone into effect, use of SF6
for Tracer Gas Testing, Magnesium Sand Casting, Magnesium
Investment Casting, and Military Applications (other than
Military Tracer Gas Array use) will not be allowed in California
beginning January 1, 2013 without a valid exemption from ARB.

These restrictions are contained in “Regulation for Reducing
Sulfur Hexafluoride Emissions”, sections 95340 to 95346, title
17, California Code of Regulations, as approved by the California
Air Resources Board in February 2009.
