ordiesel -- In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation Revised Fleet Average Calculator Now Available Posted: 23 Apr 2013 16:31:36
The revised Fleet Average Calculator and an accompanying user guide are now available. The revised calculator allows large fleets (those with over 5,000 horsepower (hp) affected vehicles) to evaluate compliance options for the Air Resources Boardís In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulationís January 1, 2014, compliance date only. Note that this Fleet Average Calculator is not applicable to small or medium fleets. The Fleet Average Calculator is an Excel spreadsheet designed to assist fleet owners in calculating their Fleet Average Index and Fleet Average Targets, based on the equipment model year and hp input. The calculator allows fleets to experiment with different turnover, repower, and retrofit strategies to plan for compliance with the in-use off-road diesel vehicle regulation. The revised fleet average calculator and its user guide are both available at http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/ordiesel/documents/documents.htm. The calculator will be receiving additional updates and improvements in the future. If you have any questions, comments, or other suggestions pertaining to the calculator, please contact Kyle Goff by phone at (916)-323-1414, or by email at email@example.com. Background The regulation for In-Use Off-Road Diesel Vehicles first became effective under California law on June 15, 2008. This regulation is intended to reduce harmful emissions from diesel powered construction and mining vehicles operating in California that have propulsion engines that are 25 hp or greater. Fleets were required to initially report their off-road diesel vehicles to ARB in 2009 via DOORS. In addition, fleet owners are currently subject to restrictions on unnecessary idling, and some large fleets will be subject to accelerated replacement/repower requirements beginning January 1, 2014. If you have any questions regarding off-road reporting, please contact the DOORS hotline at (877) 59-DOORS (877-593-6677) or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
