Posted: 07 May 2013 13:25:05
California Fires Air Quality Updates for week of May 6-10, 2013:

Springs Fire:
With the changes in weather, air quality has improved
substantially in surrounding communities. The air quality warning
in effect for Santa Barbara County over the weekend has been
canceled. The advisory for Ventura County has also been canceled
as the Air District forecasts air quality in the good to moderate
range for Monday and Tuesday, May 6-7.

Panther Fire:
The health advisory that was in effect over the weekend for
Sutter and Yuba Counties has been canceled. Air quality on
Monday afternoon was good and is predicted to be good-moderate
for Tuesday, May 7. There are no advisories in effect for Butte
County, as the weather has improved the air quality in
communities impacted by the smoke from the Panther Fire.

As the fires reach containment, some communities may be impacted
by smoke from smoldering fuels. Residents are urged to use
caution during smoky conditions, especially when working or
exercising outside or if they have existing health conditions
such as asthma. More information can be found at

The California Air Response Planning Alliance (CARPA) was formed
in 2006 by the California Air Resources Board, the US
Environmental Protection Agency, and the Governor's Office of
Emergency Services. CARPA's mission is to provide actionable
incident response information to protect public health and the
environment from the airborne releases and other emergencies with
air quality impacts.
