The staff report “2013 Minor Modifications to the Zero Emission Vehicle Regulation” is now available. The Air Resources Board will conduct a public hearing to consider the proposed amendments during its October 24-25, 2013, Board Meeting. The Staff Report and Hearing Notice are available at this link: http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/2013/zev2013/zev2013.htm Background: The California Air Resources Board (ARB or the Board) first adopted the Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) requirement in 1990 as part of the Low Emission Vehicle regulation. Although it has been modified several times over the years, it remains an important regulation for meeting California’s air quality and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction goals and has spurred many new technologies that are being driven on California’s roads today. The Board’s motivation has always been to have zero emission technologies available on a commercial scale as quickly as possible. Manufacturers are required to produce a number of ZEV and ZEV-enabling technologies each year.
