gmbond -- Small Fleets (1 to 3 Trucks) Can Apply Now for Prop 1B Grants

Posted: 01 Nov 2013 17:08:04
SMALL Fleets in the Goods Movement Sector:

•ARB has changed the scope of the current Proposition 1B
solicitation to include small fleets (1 to 3 trucks).

•Small fleets can apply now for a grant to replace their truck in
2014.

•Submit your application to a local agency by Thursday, December
12, 2013 if you meet the eligibility requirements. Basic
requirements are:

75% operation within California for the past 2 years
Move goods as part of a sales transaction
Commit to at least 50% travel within the four California trade
corridors
Drayage trucks (including dray-off trucks) are not eligible

•Small fleets (1 to 3 trucks) will be given priority. Large
fleets may also continue to apply during this solicitation.

•We are also expanding this solicitation to allow funding for all
engine model years that are 2006 and older.

If small fleets meet the Proposition 1B goods movement
eligibility requirements, they can now apply for a grant that
would enable them to receive funding in 2014, and demonstrate a
good faith effort to comply with the Truck and Bus Regulation.
ARB will be issuing a regulatory advisory soon to provide
guidance on how it will handle compliance for fleets that make
such good faith efforts to comply with the Truck and Bus
Regulation deadline. For more information, please see the
Proposition 1B website at: www.arb.ca.gov/gmbond.

Background: The Proposition 1B: Goods Movement Emission
Reduction Program is a partnership between the State Air
Resources Board (ARB) and local agencies(like air districts and
ports) to quickly reduce air pollution emissions and health risk
from freight movement along California’s trade corridors. ARB
provides funding to eligible agencies; those agencies then offer
financial incentives to owners of equipment used in freight
movement to upgrade to cleaner technologies prior to regulatory
requirements.
