certabr -- certabr - Abrasive Blasting Certification Program List Update

Posted: 01 Jul 2014 11:50:54
On June 24, 2014, the Air Resources Board (ARB) issued Executive
Order (EO) G 14-017 for Abrasive Blasting Certification.

EO G-14-017 lists all of the abrasives currently certified for
permissible dry blasting outside of a permanent building.
Several new abrasives have been certified, and some previously
listed abrasives have been decertified for nonpayment of fees.
Certifications for abrasives listed on EO G-14-017 expire on
either August 31, 2014, or August 31, 2015. EO G-14-017 may be
accessed on ARB's webpage:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/ba/certabr/eo/eo.htm. If an abrasive you
are considering for permissible dry blasting outside of a
permanent building does not appear on the list of currently
certified abrasives, please contact Kathryn Gugeler at
916-322-0221 or via email at kgugeler@arb.ca.gov, and she will
inform you of the abrasive's current status.

Thank you for your interest in this program.

The California Health and Safety Code authorizes ARB to adopt air
pollution performance standards for abrasive blasting operations.
California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Sections 92000 92530
requires that all abrasive blasting is performed within a
permanent building with specified exceptions, provided the
abrasives meet specific performance standards both before and
after blasting. Compliance with the performance standards
improves air quality by reducing the fine particulate matter
emitted to the atmosphere during permissible blasting outside a
permanent building.

Information regarding the Certified Abrasive Blasting Program,
including the exemptions for blasting outside a permanent
building and the applicable performance standards, is accessible
