Posted: 29 Jul 2014 14:05:49
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has taken its first enforcement action under the indoor air cleaner regulation and has issued a $120,000 fine to a manufacturer. The regulation requires that air cleaners manufactured, distributed, or sold in California meet an ozone emission limit of 0.05 ppm and be certified by ARB. The ARB news release regarding this enforcement action is available at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/newsrel/newsrelease.php?id=640. ARB’s webpage on the air cleaner regulation is available at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/research/indoor/aircleaners/aircleaners.htm. In addition, ARB has updated its guidance document for the public entitled, “Air Cleaning Devices for the Home: Frequently Asked Questions,” which is available at: http://www.arb.ca.gov/research/indoor/acdsumm.pdf. The document provides information on filtration, the different types of air cleaners, and how to select an appropriate air cleaner for one’s needs. Questions regarding ARB’s indoor air cleaner regulation can be directed to Michael Gabor at (916) 445-0753 or by email at mgabor@arb.ca.gov.
