schoolbus -- AB 923 Funds for Zero-Emission School Bus Fleet Expansions & Conversions

Posted: 14 Oct 2015 11:01:13
The California Air Resources Board (ARB) has posted Mail-Out #MSC
15-19 Lower Emission School Bus Program (LESBP) - Using Assembly
Bill 923 Funds for Zero-Emission School Bus Fleet Expansions and
All-Electric School Bus Conversions. Mail Out #MSC 15-19 allows
fleet expansion for purchases of zero-emission school buses,
including new zero-emission school buses and zero-emission school
bus conversions using a new school bus chassis. The new
zero-emission school bus is not limited to a certain gross
vehicle weight rating. Furthermore, Mail Out #MSC 15-19 provides
guidance for funding all-electric school bus conversions using AB
923 funds.

The Mail-Out may be found on ARB’s webpage at:
http://www.arb.ca.gov/bonds/schoolbus/advisory/advisory.htm .

If you have questions regarding Mail-Out #MSC 15-19, please
contact Ms. Lisa Jennings, Air Pollution Specialist, at (916)
322-6913, or via email at lisa.jennings@arb.ca.gov .

Background:

The primary goal of the LESBP is to reduce children’s exposure to
both cancer-causing and smog-forming pollution. Conversion to
electric school buses can be a vital component of the program as
school buses typically remain in service for extended periods of
time. Significant emission reductions that are immediate and
benefit children’s health result from an electric school bus
conversion.

California is in a drought emergency.
