Enhanced Fleet Modernization Program

This page last reviewed May 23, 2011

The Enhanced Fleet Modernization Program (EFMP) was approved by the AB118 legislation to augment the State’s existing vehicle retirement program, referred to as the Consumer Assistance Program.  Approximately $30 million is available annually through 2015 to fund the EFMP via a $1 increase in vehicle registration fees.  ARB developed the program in consultation with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR).  The program is jointly administered by both BAR for vehicle retirement, and local air districts for vehicle replacement.
