The reporting forms
for 2006 are now available for public transit agencies. These forms are
for use by transit agencies currently subject to the Fleet Rule for
Transit Agencies and are for reporting a transit agency's urban buses
and transit fleet vehicles as of January 1, 2006 to ARB. Your reports
are due to ARB no later than January 31, 2006.
An advisory letter, MSC 05-21,
clarifying the use of B20, diesel that contains 20 percent
by volume biodiesel, in conjunction with retrofit devices is now
available. Senate Bill 975 allows within California any federal, state,
or local agency; any regulated utility, and any owner or operator of
solid waste collection vehicles to use B20 with retrofit devices
through 2008 whether or not the device is verified with its use.

Model-Year Heavy Duty Urban Bus Engines and the Fleet Rule for Transit
TRANSIT BUS BOARD HEARING
The Air Resources Board (ARB) will conduct a public hearing on
September 15-16, 2005
to consider adoption of amendments to the exhaust
emission standards and test procedures for urban bus engines and
vehicles and to the ARB fleet rule for transit agencies. The purposes
of these amendments are to achieve emission reductions from the
operations of transit agencies throughout the state, and to make
specific changes in the regulations to specifically address transit
vehicles used in the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

will be holding a public workshop on April 27, 2005 (1:00 to 4:00 pm)
at the Cal/EPA headquarters, 1001 I Street, Sierra Hearing Room,
Sacramento, CA to discuss proposed modifications to the Urban Bus
Exhaust Emission Standards and Test Procedures
- 1985 and Subsequent
Model Heavy-Duty Urban Bus Engines and Vehicles. This is a new date in
addition to the previously noticed workshop that was held on April 7,
2005, in El Monte. The subject of this workshop will be the proposed
alignment of the urban bus 2007 engine exhaust emission standards with
the California 2007 heavy-duty truck standards.
A public workshop to
discuss proposed modifications to the exhaust emission standards and
Test Procedures - Link Expired - 1985 and Subsequent Model Year Heavy-Duty Urban Bus
Engines and Vehicles, and the fleet rule for transit agencies specific
to agencies operating in the South Coast Air Basin has been scheduled
for April 7, 2005 in El Monte, CA. See posted workshop notice.
On February 24, 2005, the Air Resources Board adopted new fleet requirements for
transit fleet vehicles, modifications to the Fleet Rule for Transit
Agencies and 2004 to 2006 engine emission standards for diesel hybrid

2007-2009 model year urban bus engines that were scheduled for 1:30 p.m., March 9, in El Monte and
10 a.m., March 10, 2005 in Sacramento have been cancelled. New dates have not
yet been determined. A notice will be published at least 30 days in advance of rescheduled public workshops.
