Please Read the Information Below Before Submitting A Request:
The manufacturers of certain *1988-2001* vehicles sold new in Canada have provided California with documentation allowing registration of these vehicles as US EPA (49-state) models. Unlike typical vehicles sold new in foreign countries, these vehicles were manufactured to meet US EPA emissions control equipment requirements. Because of differences in durability, quality control, and fleet emission averaging requirements, California limits the registration of these vehicles to individuals on a limited basis and requires the owners to obtain an authorization for inspection prior to a referee Smog Check. To submit a request for this authorization please fill out the form below:
1996 and 1997 General Moters and Chevrolet Vehicles must obtain a letter from the manufacturer. We will not process requests for these vehicles.
Authorization letter will be mailed out within 28 days after request. If you experience any problems with this form please contact us at 800-242-4450 or 626-575-6858. Our Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00AM-5:00PM Pacific Time.
