SUBJECT: PUBLIC MEETING REGARDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SPARK-IGNITION (SI) MARINE ENGINE REGULATIONS FOR MODEL YEAR 2001 AND LATER

On December 10, 1998, the Air Resources Board adopted emission regulations and test procedures for new 2001 model year and later SI marine engines. These regulations specifically affect outboard engines and personal watercraft and include provisions for emission testing, certification, corporate averaging, emission control and environmental labeling, emission control warranty and production-line testing. In order to assist manufacturers in complying with these requirements, staff is conducting a public implementation meeting to discuss these certification and quality-audit issues. Additionally, proposed formats will be provided for certification applications and production line test reporting.
