Re:  Proposed Gasoline Spark-Ignition Marine Regulations

In a Board hearing scheduled for December 1998, staff will propose exhaust emission standards for gasoline spark-ignition (SI) marine engines. The proposed standards will affect outboard marine and personal watercraft engines and will include provisions for consumer notification and environmental labeling, in-use compliance testing and recall, defects warranty requirements and production line and certification testing. Staff is conducting a public workshop to discuss the preliminary proposal.
