Hybrid Electric Vehicle Test Procedures

The ARB is modifying the existing exhaust & evaporative test procedures for Light Duty & Medium Duty Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) to better characterize emissions from all types and architectures of Hybrid Electric Vehicles including Plug-In hybrids.  Information regarding this process and the proposed modifications are shown below.  To receive information on postings to this website please sign-up on the ZEV list serve.

BOARD MEETING

Emission Test Procedure Modifications and Aftermarket Parts Certification Requirements for Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicles will not be presented at the December 11-12, 2008 meeting of the Air Resources Board. This item is now scheduled for consideration during the January 22-23, 2009 Board Meeting. The staff report for the rulemaking is now available.

PUBLIC WORKSHOPS

An additional workshop is scheduled to present and discuss staff’s proposed modifications to the certification and installation procedures for off-vehicle charge capable or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles presented at the January 23, 2009 Board Hearing.
