ARB proposes regulations to accept Federal GHG vehicle standards
Proposed regulations will allow compliance with federal greenhouse gas standards for cars and light-duty trucks to satisfy California requirements
SACRAMENTO - To further California's commitments in support of a National Program to regulate passenger vehicle greenhouse gas emissions, ARB will submit on Friday, August 31, 2012, to California's Office of Administrative Law a regulatory proposal that would allow automobile manufacturer compliance with the EPA National Program greenhouse gas requirements for model years 2017-2025 to serve as compliance with California's adopted greenhouse gas emissions requirements for those same model years.
The comment period will begin on September 14, following the Office of Administrative Law’s publication of the proposed regulations on the same date. Documents regarding that proposal are further described at http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/2012/leviiidtc12/leviiidtc12.htm
ARB's mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. The ARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health based air quality standards.
