Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Hearing

SACRAMENTO -- The California Air Resources Board (ARB) will consider amendments to its zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) rules which require manufacturers to offer for sale zero- and near-zero emitting vehicles in California:

Thursday and Friday
March 27 –28

Cal/EPA Headquarters
Central Valley Auditorium

1001 I Street, 2nd Floor
Sacramento, California

The hearing will cover proposed modifications to the rule, which can be reviewed here.

California’s motor vehicle rules are the most progressive in the world, reducing auto emissions by more than 95 percent in the last 30 years. Since its adoption in 1990, the ARB’s ZEV rule has pushed motor vehicle emissions technology toward non-polluting alternatives. Because motor vehicle emissions still account for more than 50 percent of California smog, clean vehicles are a major component in reaching the state’s clean air goals.

An audio webcast of the meeting will be available here.

The Air Resources Board is a department of the California Environmental Protection Agency. ARB’s mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare, and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects on the economy. The ARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health based air quality standards.

The energy challenge facing California is real. Every Californian needs to take immediate action to reduce energy consumption. For a list of simple ways you can reduce demand and cut your energy cost, see our website at http://www.arb.ca.gov.
