ARB Settles Air Quality Violations For the Month of July
SACRAMENTO - The California Air Resources Board (ARB) today announced four settlements have been reached involving companies that violated the state's air quality standards. The details of each case are as follows:
COMPANY: Varie Business Inc. City of Industry, California
VIOLATION: Sold, distributed, supplied and/or offered for sale "Nifty"
Air Freshener products which violated the state's volatile organic compound
(VOC) limitation of 18%.
WHEN: January 3, 1996 and June 2, 1997
SETTLEMENT: $1,000
COMPANY: Macfee Manufacturing, Aurora, Illinois
VIOLATION: Sold, distributed, supplied and/or offered for sale "Sprig"
Air Freshener products which violated the state's VOC content limitation
of 18%.
WHEN: Between January 1, 1996 and August 26, 1996
SETTLEMENT: $5,000
COMPANY: Centurion Vehicles, Inc. White Pigeon, Michigan
VIOLATION: Offered for sale in California new motor vehicles that
did not meet California emission standards.
WHEN: August 29, 1997 and December 18, 1997
SETTLEMENT: $4,000
COMPANY: Vallejo Nissan, Vallejo, California
VIOLATION: Offered for sale in California a federally smogged and
certified vehicle not legally authorized for sale in California.
WHEN: November 4, 1997
SETTLEMENT: $2,000

The ARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health based air quality standards.
