News story correction
ARB will consider the heavy-duty diesel regulation at its December 2008 hearing
SACRAMENTO - A few media outlets have
recently run stories wrongly stating that the Air Resources Board has canceled the promulgation of a new proposed
regulation aimed at cleaning up the 400,000 plus diesel trucks driving along California roadways. This is completely
false. The Air Resources Board is currently set to vote on this extremely important proposed public health regulation
at its December hearing in Sacramento. We are currently calling media outlets to determine where they received
their false information, and also demanding corrections.
The Air Resources Board is a department
of the California Environmental Protection Agency. ARB's mission is to promote and protect public health, welfare,
and ecological resources through effective reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering effects
on the economy. The ARB oversees all air pollution control efforts in California to attain and maintain health
based air quality standards.
