A conference about oceangoing vessels will be held in San Diego, February 7-9, 2007. The conference will bring together leading experts from governments, engine manufacturers, fuel suppliers, and other parties to thoroughly explore technical options and what these options suggest for current standard development in the USA and at the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Updates will be posted at www.cleanshipsconference.com when they become available.

An Oceangoing Ship Auxiliary Engine / Cargo Handling Equipment Workgroup Meeting (Teleconference) is scheduled for October 4, 2005, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (PDT). The goal of this meeting is to share the methodologies used to develop the cargo handling equipment and ship auxiliary engine emissions estimates, proposed revisions to the draft regulations, and the cost estimates for cargo handling equipment. The first hour will be devoted to the Cargo Handling Equipment proposal and the second hour to the Oceangoing Ship Auxiliary Engine proposal.

red diamond bullet The Port of Los Angeles (POLA) has recently released a Request for Proposal (RFP) pursuant to the POLA Port Air Quality Mitigation Program. The Port Air Quality Mitigation Program is a five-year, $20 million program sponsored by the POLA. This initial solicitation covers the first two years of the program for a total of $4.5 million. The primary purpose of this program is to provide financial incentives to assist in the implementation of projects that reduce air quality impacts from Port operations that affect the communities of San Pedro and Wilmington.
